32G RAM Gaming Rig $1500 - Built for Dimmdriving !

7 posts in this topic

Just recently somebody asked me for info on a gaming rig that would work well with Dimmdrive.  I've put together some specs to build a pretty monster gaming system for around $1500.  This system features 32G of RAM for a monster ramdrive size and a Nvidia GTX 770 4GB GPU with a heavily OC'able, liquid cooled, 3770k.

Here you go!

This system is very close to another system that I recently built, and that system was able to benchmark Dimmdrive on it with speeds between 7,000MB/s to 10,200 MB/s!

You'd supply your OS (likely from your existing PC) and toss in all your old hard drives, keyboard, mouse, and monitors as well.

That's a very interesting site!  I wish you could just click the RAM field and increase it up to 32G.

PC Gaming rigs are so varied that I suppose even 50 build sites wouldn't cover all the options :)

I build PCs for people fairly often. I find this site to be spot on most of the time. Of course I make my own personal tweaks and changes depending on it's specific application but that site saves me a lot of time by giving me a good foundation to start with

Why the GTX 770?

The GTX 960 is OVER $100 cheaper... and performance is comparable...

GeForce GTX 770     6,148    $329.99

GeForce GTX 960     6,023    $199.99

Thats the card Im getting...

Same with your CPU choice... Same performance... $170 cheaper...

Intel Core i7-3770K @ 3.50GHz     9,622     $379.00

AMD FX-9370 Eight-Core              9,592      $209.99

Oh and liquid cooling wouldent be required...

So with those changes you could build one for $1100

That is what Im building for my youtube/streaming PC right now...

I think one of the reasons people get the i7 is due to single-thread performance boost over AMD.  So while multi-threading they may be comparable, I think (not 100% sure) Intel's single thread is still superior.

That being said, not sure how relevant it is with today's systems/games :)

Oh that post about the 770?  That's from 2013 :)
